breaking of bread service

breaking of bread service

Psalm 92 is entitles ‘A song for the Sabbath day’ and it begins with the words:

It is good to give thanks to Jehovah, and to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; Psalm 92:1

And it ends with the words:

The righteous shall flourish like the palm tree; he shall grow like a cedar in Lebanon. Those that are planted in the house of Jehovah shall flourish in the courts of our God They shall still bring forth fruit in old age; they shall be fat and flowering; to show that Jehovah is upright; He is my rock, and no unrighteousness is in Him. Psalm 92:12-15

One follows the other, when our hearts are drawn to giving thanks to the Lord then the people will flourish, fruit and flower. Now that’s not a promise of some earthly riches but rather a purposeful existence. Jesus taught that the Sabbath was for man and not man for the Sabbath. What He meant by that was God doesn’t need you to come and worship Him like you’re visiting an elderly relative in a nursing home once a week; rather that you need to spend some time away with the Lord in order to flourish, fruit and flower.

Our Sunday morning worship at Grace is a sanctuary where you can come away and spend a dedicated time with the Lord. We share together in a time of worship through songs and prayers, in the Pentecostal style of freedom to pray and praise rather than a fixed order. We share the table of the Lord together as we remember the death and resurrection of our Lord to forgive sins once and for all. The Table reminds us Christ forgave us of our sins if we accepted Him as Saviour and so we don’t come to ask forgiveness and re-crucify the Lord, but remember that when we sin there was a terrible cost that we might go free. Finally and most importantly, we study the word together as an aspect of the Bible is taught, so we can learn a little bit more about the Lord.

Our service is usually 2 hours long, beginning at 10am and ending at 12pm. Afterwards we have free tea and coffee, so that we can discuss the Lord and what we have learned that week in a hope to encourage one another and to help one another, especially if you feel weak.

We have a crèche facility for you to take your small children (preschool age) out if you feel they are disturbing you, where the meeting is brought through a speaker system. We also have a Sunday School for primary school aged children where they will learn the Bible stories during the sermon period of our meeting.

We do hope you can join us.
